Spring, TX was originally occupied by a special tribe known as the Orcoquisac Indians.  The Orcoquisac Indians depended on fishing and hunting. Fishing and hunting during this time were very abundant in the Spring, TX area. Termed by the Spaniards as the, “El Orcoquisac”, the tribal Indians were the first merchants in Old Town Spring and were considered Trading Posts. These Trading Posts which were established by the French were the central marketplace where trade with the Indians occurred rapidly.
